Choose for daily access, not a perfectly packed box
List the longest and widest items first, then note what must remain reachable throughout the project. Shelving, pallet movement and a walking aisle consume space. A storage plan that assumes everything can be stacked against everything else often creates extra handling once deliveries begin.
Consider who controls the contents. Two smaller units may let separate trades manage their own tools, while one larger unit may suit centralized receiving. That is an operational choice, not an automatic cost saving: compare the complete delivery, rental and recovery quotes for both layouts.
Compare the configuration
Twenty- and 40-foot labels describe nominal container lengths. Confirm the actual unit specification before ordering: usable interior dimensions, door opening, floor capacity and any accessories can differ. High-cube and double-door configurations are options to discuss when sourceable, rather than assumptions about the standard rental.

Separate the container footprint from delivery space
A rectangle on the logistics plan is not the whole delivery area. Mobile Modular Portable Storage identifies access, stable ground, overhead obstacles and delivery coordination as separate preparation issues. The selected carrier must confirm its own truck and unloading requirements.
Send photographs from the street through the gate to the proposed placement point. Include turns, slopes, overhead obstructions and the ground surface. Mark the preferred door direction. Keep an alternative location available until the carrier has reviewed the site, and recheck the route if rain or another trade changes conditions.
Plan the last week on the first day
Identify the person who can authorize pickup and the notice required by the rental agreement. Allow time to empty the unit, remove customer locks or accessories as agreed, and restore access for the recovery vehicle. A container placed early can become boxed in by later fencing, landscaping or permanent equipment.
For custom container design or fabrication, provide intended use, a dimensioned sketch and required modifications before selecting a unit. A modified pedestrian corridor is a separate engineered concept; a standard storage container should never be assumed suitable for occupied passage or falling-object protection.
